A monk,
Alone in a room,
Rain falling outside,
Nature's rhythmic chant,

Contemplating about life,
Mystery he wonders,
Questions arise,
Imagination runs wild,

Birth and death,
Always a cycle,
Life is happiness,
Death is freedom,

Everything appears random,
Patterns emerge when observed,
Lonely man, a lonely island,
Both are in the same ocean,

So realizes the monk,
Every seconds worth,
Together alone,
Alone together.
